SILVER LAKE - Maxine Ruth Goodman, 72, of Silver Lake, KS passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Stormont Vail Hospital. She was born August 6, 1942 in Holton the daughter of Gerald K. and Ethel L. (Nuzman) Snyder.
Maxine graduated from Circleville High School in 1960. She was raised in Circleville. She moved to Topeka in 1960 and later to Silver Lake in 1967.
Maxine was a receptionist for Kansas Inspection Bureau for 13 years. Maxine was a homemaker until 1988, while her daughters were young. She later worked for Rockey’s Realty and Rockey’s Tank Lining in Topeka, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church.
Maxine married Loren G. Goodman on June 5, 1965 in Circleville. He survives of the home. Other survivors include 2 daughters, Lori VandeVelde (Scott) and Amy Bahner (Derek) both of Silver Lake; 3 sisters, Virginia Farrier of Topeka, Shirley Shupe (Lester) of Circleville and Lana McKinsey (LeRoy) of Topeka and 5 grandchildren, Lyndsey, Dylan and Kaden VandeVelde and Avery and Ashlyn Bahner.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church with burial following in the Silver Lake Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the church. Maxine will lie in state at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton beginning Tuesday morning until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.
