Kaytie Hitchens Armstrong, 95, of Atchison, KS, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Atchison Senior Village.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 22, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, Atchison, KS with the Rev. Dr. Rachel Dannar officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home.  Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church or Atchison Senior Village and may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Kaytie was born on November 1, 1919 in Atchison, KS the daughter of Arthur and Rose (Saggs) Ostertag.  She graduated from Atchison High School.  Kaytie was the caretaker of Muchnic Art Gallery and Museum for many years.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Atchison Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer and Seniors Bowling League.  Kaytie enjoyed knitting, birds, baking breads and cookies, being a room mother, neighbor kids called her “Mrs. Goodcookie”.  

Kaytie  married Joseph Hitchens in Kansas City, MO. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1985.  Kaytie later married Arthur Armstrong in 1992.  He preceded her in death on October 5, 1999.  Survivors include three sons; J. Alan (Patti) Hitchens, Newport, WA, Paul (Jeanne) Hitchens, Newport, WA, Scott Hitchens, Atchison, KS, two daughters; Deanna (Lon) Snow, Greenleaf, WI, Roseanne Roberts, Plumber, ID, a step-son, Doug (Kathy) Armstrong, Atchison, KS and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Doug Hitchens, three brothers, John, Roy, Adrian Ostertag, and a sister, Annette Marlatt.
