Reinhard H. Kuhlmann, 97, of Pawnee City formerly of Table Rock, Nebraska was born on July 29, 1917, on a farm North of Humboldt in Nemaha County, Nebraska to Henry and Emelia (Sodman) Kuhlmann. Reinhard was baptized and confirmed at St. James (Long Branch) Lutheran Church and was raised on the family farm where he attended country schools North of Humboldt and Table Rock. On March 5, 1942, Reinhard entered into active service in the United States Army and served his country during World War II as a Tec 4 Mechanic. He was honorably discharged from the Army on January 5, 1946 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. 

On March 5, 1946, Reinhard was united in marriage to Leona Grauerholz in Kensington, Kansas. To this union seven children, Deanna, Dennis, Doreen, Orlin, Marilyn, Teresa and Karen were born. The couple began their marriage living in Kensington, Kansas from 1946-1951 before moving back to Nebraska. They lived in Auburn from 1951-1961, in Humboldt from 1961-1979, outside of Table Rock from 1979-2012, and at the Pawnee Village until current day. During his adult life, Reinhard worked as a carpenter and at Campbell’s Soup Company in Tecumseh, Nebraska unitl retirement in 1979. Reinhard was a current member of The Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Nebraska where he and Leona held their membership for many years.

Reinhard passed away at the Pawnee Manor in Pawnee City, Nebraska on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, having reached the age of 97 years, 3 months, and 28 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son Dennis, brothers: Alvin, Walter, Edmund, Ernest and Ervin Kuhlmann; sisters: Rosa and Leona, son-in-law Rick Burgett, brothers-in-law: Leroy and Kenny Gemaehlich, and Vernon Beckmann, and sisters-in-law Rosina Kuhlmann and Margaret Gemaehlich.

Reinhard is survived by his loving wife Leona of Pawnee City, NE; children: Deanna (John) Schmidt of Bellevue, NE; Doreen Kuhlmann of Lincoln, NE; Orlin (Sue) Kuhlmann of Table Rock, NE; Marilyn Burgett of Humboldt, NE; Teresa (Mark) Turnbull of Humboldt, NE; Karen (Mike) Karbowski of Pawnee City, NE; 11 grand children; 3 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law: Ida Kuhlmann of Tecumseh, NE; Jeanne Kuhlmann of Humboldt, NE; Manetta Kuhlmann of Sterling, CO; Clara Beckmann of Kensington, KS; and a brother-in-law Lloyd (Margaret) Gemaehlich of Kensington, KS; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at The Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Reverend Matthew Mortenson officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2014, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska. Family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment will be at the Humboldt Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Nebraska Army Honor Guard..
