Susan Jo Sunderlin, beloved by her family, friends, and coworkers alike, has died. She was 59.

Sunderlin has a BS in Pchycology from Governors State University in Chicago, Illinois and her MA in Administration. She worked in Illinois in the arena of social services at Kennedy School in Tinley Park, Rockvale Children’s Home in Rockford, and lastly she was administrator for Francis House, a series of group homes for the physically and mentally challenged.

Born April 12, 1955, the second of eight children, she considered it a joy to help her family with any and all the resources she had----giving her time, energy, and love to all those who came into her life.

Sunderlin was preceded in death by parents, Pattilee (Mulheren) Sunderlin and Harold Joseph Sunderlin; by her sister Mary Kate Sunderlin; by her brother John Anthony Sunderlin; by her brothers-in-law Phil D. Sauceman and Kenneth Charles Babcock.

She is survived by her sisters Nancy Babcock of the home, Kelly Cook (Doug) of Anderson South Carolina, Trish Sauceman of Bull Head City, Arizona; by her brothers Peter “Pete” Sunderlin (Susie Rodriguies) of Machesney Park, Illinois and Paul Sunderlin of Rockford, Illinois; Nephews and nieces Amy Sunderlin of Edwardsville, Illinois; Robert Sunderlin of Rockford, Illinois; Ariel Sunderlin of Machesney Park, Illinois; Kenna Babcock of Fairway, Kansas; Matea Babcock of Hiawatha, Kansas; Michael Sunderlin of Rockford, Illinois, Heather Sunderlin of Rochelle, Illinois; Ivan “Ike” Sauceman of Rockford, Illinois; Christian Cook of Anderson, South Carolina; Scott Cook of Anderson, South Carolina.

The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent health care provided by caregivers at Hiawatha Home Health, HCH Physical Therapy, Hiawatha Community Hospital nurses and staff, and Dr. Pete Rosa, and Dr. Stephen Shamburg.

The memorial service at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, Kansas, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, November 24, 2014. Burial will follow immediately following the memorial service.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 until 3 Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
