We are celebrating the life and times of “NE-QI” aka Calvin Darnell, Killah Cal, Curls, Cal Cal, and Bone, Born on January 8, 1991 and began his journey on November 15, 2014. “Ne-Qi” Calvin Darnell began his journey on November 15, 2014, at Stormont Vail Hospital, at the tender age of 23. The son of Theresa Darnell and the late Lorenzo Shopteese Jr. Calvin Darnell was born on January 8, 1991 in Topeka, Kansas and lived most of his life on the Kickapoo Reservation where he was a member of the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas. Calvin attended and graduated from Kickapoo Nation School. He was currently working for Banner Creek, Inc. in Holton, Kansas. He was also a carpenter, painter, roofer, dope man, plumber, and grill master. Calvin enjoyed and loved eating meat pies, riding motorcycles, mudding, popping wheelies, cracking jokes, smoking herb, Michael Jordan clothes and shoes, he was the best golfer, loved knocking dudes out, playing basketball and lived fearlessly. Calvin was very sentimental and loving, he hated tears as well as wearing his shoes. He was always right no matter what anyone said, and he was forever saying “Man that’s Messed Up”. He was the most amazing, incredible Shisha. He loved his family with all his heart! A hug and kiss was a given before he ever left or walked away. He loved to listen to Too Short, and lived by his song which became his motto. “PIMP THE GAME AND DON’T BE LIKE CALVIN” Calvin was the most amazing Young Man, Individual, Brother, Friend, Cousin, Son, Nephew, Uncle, Trouble Maker, and Fiancé that we could ask for. He is survived by his mom, Theresa Darnell, Horton, Kansas, his son Calvin Darnell Jr., Mayetta, Kansas, his Fiancé Suzy Jim, Mayetta, Kansas, his brothers Andrew Darnell, Adrian Darnell, Jarvis Ramirez, Nathan Switch, Aaron Switch, Dylan Nanomantube, Horton, Kansas, Timothy Pahmahmie, Hiawatha, Kansas, Caleb Shopteese, his sisters, Sidney Switch, Devyn Nanomantube, Horton, Kansas. Grandpa, Eldon Darnell Sr., Mayetta, Kansas, Grandma, Thamar Masquat, Horton, Kansas, Aunts, Michelle Matchie, Christine Shopteese, Kristine Darnell, Bobbi Darnell, Shirley Shopteese. Uncles, Eldon Darnell Jr., Michael Shopteese, John Shopteese, Robert Nanomantube, and Sonny Switch. Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends. Calvin was preceded in death by his Dad, Lorenzo Shopteese Jr. his Paternal Grandparents, Lorenzo Shopteese Sr. and Nellie Shopteese, his Maternal Grandma, Sharon “Dugie” Kahbeah. We are celebrating Calvin’s life and times on November 18, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. with Kennekuk services being held at the Kickapoo Community Building, burial on November 19th at Kennekuk cemetery.
