Larry “The Rev” Lee Childers, 71, of Leavenworth, passed away, Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at his home surrounded by family and loved ones.

 He was born Sept. 14, 1943, in Atchison, Kan. the son of Loyal and Venita (Thomas) Childers.
On Nov. 25, 1972, he married Sharon Oroke in Basehor, Kan. She preceded him in death Aug. 10, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by five daughters, Kimberly (Tony) Kiehl of Nicholasville, Ky., Sandy (Mark) Reno of Atchison, Amanda Johnson of Weston, Mo., Carrie (Darrell) Lust of Atchison and Paige Chalfant of Kansas City, Kan.; 13-grandchildren and one on the way; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Connie Fitzgerald; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog Puff.

Larry was a concrete finisher and restored classic cars. He enjoyed camping, swap meeting, hunting, fishing, antiquing and shooting the “shit” with his many friends, loved ones and adoptees.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Kickapoo Memorial Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to Kickapoo Township Fire Department.
