 John D. Daum, 78, Atchison, Kansas died Thursday, October 16, 2014 at his residence. 


Memorial services will be Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Watkins officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, October 21st from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Assembly of God Church, Atchison Salvation Army or Atchison Project Concern and may be left in care of the funeral home. 

John was born September 20, 1936 in Nortonville, Kansas the son of John Cecil Daum and Myrle Stillman. He attended grade school at a country school near Valley Falls, Kansas and Nortonville, Kansas public schools. 

He and Betty Hanshaw were united in marriage in May of 1956 and later divorced. He and Sarah Goodwin were united in marriage on April 12, 1986 in Camdenton, Missouri. 

John was employed with Kansas Auto Auction in Elwood, Kansas for six years and served as a self-employed truck driver for the major portion of his working career. He also formerly owned and operated a tavern and cafe. Most recently he served as a driver for the Atchison Project Concern until his health failed. John was an avid NASCAR fan. 

Survivors include his wife, Sarah, of the couple’s home in Atchison, seven daughters, Kristen Daum, Atchison, KS, Pamela Mullins, Atchison, KS, Debra Munsterman, Leavenworth, KS, Barbara Zeltner, Atchison, KS, Sarah Conway, Leavenworth, KS, Michelle Bailey, Clinton, MO, Jennifer Hayes, Atchison, KS, a son, Jason Hundley, Atchison, KS, twenty five grandchildren and several great grandchildren and his beloved pets. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Richard Daum, a daughter, Charlene Artman, a great grandson, Travis Clary and a great great grandson, Stan Lee Cassiano.
