August M. Lohman, 91, Potter, Kansas, died surrounded by his loving family, Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Atchison Hospital.  

Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  A parish rosary will be recited Wednesday, October 15th at 6:30 P.M. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Patrick’s Church Maintenance Fund or for Masses and may be left in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.arensbergpruett.com.

August was born November 11, 1922 in Potter, Kansas the son of August M. Lohman, Sr. and Flora E. Winkler Lohman.  He attended schools in Potter, Kansas, graduating from Potter High School.

He and the former Agnes M. Scholz were united in marriage on February 13, 1945 at St. Benedict’s Church in Atchison.  August was a farmer and had a great passion for his work and for his land.  

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Atchison.  He served as a clerk for the Mt. Pleasant Township and was a member of the Easton Township. He served as a board member on the Potter School Board.  August loved spending time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren’s dance performances and sporting events.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, toiling in his flower beds and doing genealogy of his family.  

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Agnes M. Lohman, one daughter, Marlene (Dennis) Wagner, Atchison, KS, three sons, Lawrence (Trudy) Lohman, Cummings, KS, Gary (Patti) Lohman, Effingham, KS, Daniel (Teresa) Lohman, Kansas City, MO, thirteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Elmer, Harold, LeRoy, Francis, Lester and two sisters Pearl Lewis and Ruth Sellers.
