Karlene Deters

Havensville—Karlene A. Deters, 61, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

She was born September 19, 1953 at Glenco, MN; the daughter of Clarence and Delphine Dannecker Kargel. Karlene graduated from Chelsea High School, Chelsea MI. She attended Eastern Kentucky University for one year and then attended Missouri University where she graduated with a degree in music. While attending MU she performed with the marching band.

Karlene worked in the medical field and had been a Respiratory Therapist at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. After her marriage she was a homemaker, loving wife and mother.

On October 24, 1987 she was united in marriage to Richard J. “Rick” Deters. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Anne-Marie, Mary and Katherine Deters; three sons, George, Jacob and Gerard Deters; four sisters, Karen Callinan, Konnie Kalmbach, Krista Ostertag and Kateri Paterson; seven brothers, Kevin, Kenny, Kerry, Karsten, Keith, Kent and Kurt Kargel.

Requiem Mass will be at 7:00 A.M. Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Assumption Chapel in St. Marys.

Interment will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Marys. Mrs. Deters will lie in state from 2:00 until 4:30 P.M. Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. A rosary will be recited at 5:20 P.M. Wednesday at Assumption Chapel in St. Marys.
