Ivan Meyer

Ivan Lee Meyer, 80, of Holton, KS passed away September 27, 2014 at Medicalodge Jackson County. He was born December 27, 1933 in Effingham, KS the son of John Antone and Mabel Mary (Eckert) Meyer.

Ivan graduated from Holton High School in 1951. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Keim Trucking, construction for local companies and he worked for BMB in Holton. Ivan also worked for Gooch Feed in Salina and later owned and operated Meyer Feed in Holton. He also owned and operated Downtown Deli, also in Holton. In 1983 he began working for USD 336 as a school bus driver and retired in May 2000. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton.

He married Phyllis May in 1960, they later divorced. He married Datha Stranberg in 1971, they later divorced.

Survivors include 3 sons, John Meyer (Heidi) of Topeka, KS, William “Bill” Meyer of Lawrence, KS and Mark Meyer (Rebecka) of Liberty, IN; a daughter, Angela Tadtman (Gregory) of Topeka, KS and 3 grandchildren, Boone, Jehn Heidinie and Brooks Meyer.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Otis Meyer in 1953 and John Meyer, Jr. in 1962.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Effingham. Family will greet friends from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the Jackson County Fair Assoc. c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
