David Werner

David Eugene Werner, 62, of Tecumseh, passed away September 14, 2014 in Tecumseh, Nebraska, due to complications of ALS. He was born to Robert and Colleen (Carlson) Werner on April 19, 1952 in Falls City, NE. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Dave was raised on a farm 7 ½ miles northwest of Falls City, Nebraska. He attended rural elementary school near Salem and graduated from Falls City High School in 1970. Dave helped his dad farm and drive the mail truck. In his youth, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. 

Dave was united in marriage to Jodene Hollis on April 27, 1974 at Goff, Kansas. To this union three children were born. 

Dave served his country in the Army National Guard and later the U.S. Navy from Jan. 27, 1972 until his discharge on Jan. 26, 1978. While in the service he attended the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power School. Dave was a Machinist 1st Class assigned to Nuclear Submarines. After his service Dave worked in Operations Training at various Nuclear Power Generating Stations. His last position was at the Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, NE. 

In his spare time, Dave enjoyed riding motorcycles, coaching youth sports, hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, rooting for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, San Antonio Spurs and he especially loved spending time with his grandsons. 

Dave is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jodene Werner of Tecumseh, children, Crystal Werner of Cook, Nathan Werner and wife, Melissa of Tecumseh, Misty Strayhorn and husband, Clint of Cook; grandsons, Michael, Kollin, Cameron, Brayden, Elliott and Kolby; brother, Gary Werner of Omaha, sisters, Deb Dalluge and husband, Bruce of Tecumseh and Roberta Royse and husband, Bill of West Des Moines, IA; nieces, Becky, Meghan, Sarah and Sam; mother-in-law, JoAnn Hollis of Hiawatha, KS; sister and brother-in-law, Jenny and Frank Mueseler of Powhatten, KS; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. 

David was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Raymond Hollis, uncles, Edwin Werner, Charles Werner and Richard Pickard and several cousins. 

Funeral services will be held at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, rural Verdon, Nebraska, at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 with Pastor John Sipf

officiating. Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 1-8 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may go to the ALS Foundation. Interment will be in the St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Verdon, Nebraska, with full military honors. Online condolences may be left @ www.wherrymortuary.com.
