Margaret Lowry

Margaret H. Lowry, age 93, Valley Falls, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at her home.  
Margaret was born on February 13, 1921, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of H.H. and Agnes V. Huffman.  She was educated in the Topeka public schools and graduated from Topeka High School.  She attended Dodd School of Business and worked at several Federal agencies prior to her marriage.
She married Gordon K. Lowry on June 21, 1941.  She moved to Valley Falls, Kansas, in 1947, where her husband opened his law office.  She was a member of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church and was active in Sunday School, Church Committees and served as a member and President of United Methodist Women.  She was a member and past president of both the Literary Ramblers Club and Chapter DK P.E.O.  She enjoyed playing bridge, participating in several bridge clubs in Valley Falls.  Most of all, she showered her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all of their many friends who had the good fortune to visit her on Mulberry Street or to receive one of her heartfelt letters through the years with love, care, concern, support, encouragement and discipline--but mostly love. 
She is survived by her husband, Gordon K. Lowry, of the home, two daughters, Susan Lowry (Richard Armin) of Toronto, Canada and Lynne Lowry (Donna Sanker) of Long Beach, California, three sons, Gordon Kemmery Lowry, Jr. (Junko) of Honolulu, Hawaii, James Corwin Lowry (Cathy) of Lenexa, Kansas, and Stuart Scott Lowry (Lauren) of Hays, Kansas.  She is also survived by granddaughters, Jaime McGinnis Lowry and Meghan Dorsey Lowry; grandsons, Cameron K. Lowry, James Bryce Lowry, Gordon Connor Lowry, John Griffin Lowry, Jack Thompson-Sanker and Ryan Thompson-Sanker, Duncan Sloan and great-grandson Skyler James Lowry.  She is also survived by several sisters-in-law,  nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. in the basement of the church.  Inurnment at the Valley Falls Cemetery will be private.
