Pauline Minier

Pauline Irene (Randall) Minier, formerly of Highland, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at the age of 97 years. Pauline had been a resident of The Pines in Hiawatha for the last few years.

Pauline was born on May 21, 1917, to Roy C. and Glessner (Potter) Randall on the farm near Sparks, Kansas. Pauline attended country schools and graduated from Highland High School with the class of 1935. Pauline attended secretary training in St. Joseph before her marriage. She married Abram Merton (Mert) Minier on December 29, 1938. Mert preceded her in death on June 6, 1988.

Mert and Pauline lived in California for many years, where Pauline worked as an executive secretary in the corporate world including a number of years for Avon. The couple returned to Highland in 1982 to reside in the Minier family home, along with Mert’s sister Mary. Pauline was a member of the Highland United Methodist Presbyterian Church, serving on several committees and was a member of the Women’s Council. The Minier family, one of the early settlers in Highland, was among the founding members of the Highland Presbyterian Church.

Mert and Pauline traveled, extensively, around the world prior to Mert’s death, with Pauline continuing to travel thereafter. Pauline will be remembered by all who knew her as an intelligent, gracious, kind lady, with a keen sense of humor.

Pauline is survived by nieces: Paula (Yates) Thomas, Fargo, ND and Linda (Strong) (Dick) Streets, Slidell, LA, Nephews: Jack (Roberta) Strong, Arlington Heights, IL and Larry (Debbie) Strong, Salina, KS, numerous grand nieces and nephews, and a special friend and care giver Patty Dean, Robinson, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband Mert, sister Maxine (Bob) Yates, and sister-in-laws Mary Minier, Mabel (Minier) Strong and Dorothy Minier.

Funeral arrangements are planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 29, at the Highland Methodist Presbyterian Church in Highland, Kansas. Pastor Jerry Petering will officiate, assisted by Sam Blythe. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland after 12 noon until 7 Thursday evening. A gathering of family and friends one hour prior to service in the Church basement.
