Rosemary F. Nitz, 88, Easton, Kansas formerly of Atchison, Kansas died Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Country Care Nursing Center, Easton, Kansas.

Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church with Abbot Barnabas, OSB as celebrant.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  A parish rosary will be recited on Wednesday, August 27th at 6:30 P.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Atchison Hospital Auxiliary or Heartland Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.

Rosemary was born March 25, 1926 in Hartman, Arkansas the daughter of Frank H. and Marie M. Ehemann Soerries.  She attended elementary school in Hartman, graduating from Hartman High School.

She and Robert L. Nitz were united in marriage on June 28, 1948 in Hartman, Arkansas.  Mr. Nitz preceded her in death on February 4, 2000.

Rosemary was employed for twenty five years with Saunders Manufacturing Company in Atchison as a cutter.  

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and in her spare time enjoyed assisting her husband in scouting, making crafts, crocheting, camping and fishing and especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Albert J. Nitz, Raytown, Mo, three daughters, Emily (Dick) Brown, Lee’s Summit, MO, Benita (Jim) Hendrickson, Leavenworth, KS, Mary Lindstrom, St. Joseph, MO, a daughter-in-law, Joyce Nitz, Atchison, KS, two sisters, Leona Cronin, Brainard, MO, Florence Wiederkehr, Tulsa, OK, eleven grandchildren, Hope Begnoche, Nolan Nitz, Suzanne Nitz, Damian Brown, Daron Brown, Jennifer Pupillo, Robert Hendrickson, Sr., Dustin Hendrickson, Nicholas Lindstrom, Michael Lindstrom, twenty three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Francis Nitz, a grandson, Richard Lindstrom, six brothers, Herman, Bernard, Paul, Raymond, roman and Leo Soerries, four sisters, Hilda Oberste, Rita Lindsay, Martha Soerries and Sister Margaret Soerries, OSB.
