William James White, Sr., 72, of Fairview passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at his residence.

Bill was born on December, 6, 1941 at Centralia, Kansas the son of Roy and Bevla (Hunter) White. He grew up in the Vermillion area. He attended and graduated from Vermillion High School. As a young boy, Bill and his father did custom harvesting all over the Midwest and Canada until 1987. Bill owned and operated his own excavating and trucking business until his death. Bill was united in marriage to Gail VanGilder on May 7, 1961 at Vermillion. They attended the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha.

He was preceded in death by his father and his birth mother; a sister, Beverly Bundrick; a grandson, Taylor White. Survivors include his mother, Mable White of Vermillion; wife, Gail White of Fairview; three sons, Kerry White and his wife, Jan of Marysville, William James White, Jr. and his wife Vicki of Silver Lake, and Clinton White and his wife, Lisa of Sabetha; one sister, Carol Worden and her husband, John of Vermillion; four grandchildren and one great grandson.

Funeral service is Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. Visitation is Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. Interment will be in the Vermillion Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be left to a memorial that has yet to be designated, sent in care of the funeral home, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, KS 66534.

The family would like to invite friends to a meal at 11:30 a.m. at NorthRidge church prior to the service.
