Carl M. Risinger, 79, Valley Falls, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Village Villa Care Center in Nortonville.

He was born Sept. 14, 1934, at Valley Falls, the son of Harry M. and Ruth Leota Oswald Risinger, Sr. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He had attended the First Baptist Church, the Coal Creek United Methodist Church, and the Christian Church, all at Valley Falls. He had served on the Valley Falls Fire Department.

Carl worked as a truck driver for 22 years for the Jefferson County Road and Bridge Department. Prior to that he had worked ten years for the City of Valley Falls. He had also worked as a partsman for Mercier Chevrolet and Wrecker Service in Valley Falls.

He married Neola Scarlett Wood on June 5, 1965 in Valley Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother in infancy, Harry M. Risinger, Jr., and a sister, Doris Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Neola, of the home, two step-sons, Charles (Kathy)Wood, Olathe, and Roger (Ruth) Wood, Meriden; a step-daughter, Renae (Andy)Pritchard, Perry; 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday.
