Lucille M. Shalz, 97, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Wathena Nursing & Rehab. 

Lucille was born on May 25, 1917 in Troy, Kansas to Joseph & Elizabeth (Duffy) Rohrer. 

She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary & American Legion Auxiliary. Lucille was a Homemaker. 

Lucille married Lambert Shalz on July 17, 1945 in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1994. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, an infant brother & Louis Rohrer, sisters, Irene Rohrer & Josephine Kaelin.

Survivors: daughters, Mary Jo Black (Aaron) of St. Joseph, Missouri; 

Kelly Severin (Marc) of Wathena, Kansas;

sons, Dennis Shalz (Susie) of St. Joseph, Missouri;

Joe Shalz (Bobbie) & Mike Shalz both of Wathena, Kansas; 

Thomas Shalz (Linda Freeman) of Parkville, Missouri; 

7 grandchildren & 11 great-grandchildren; 

sister, Ilene Regan of Raytown, Missouri; 

brother, Joseph Rohrer of Wathena, Kansas; 

numerous nieces & nephews. 

Memorial Mass: 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 8, 2014 

At the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wathena, Kansas 

Rosary: 6:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the church with visitation to follow until 8, friends may call after 9 A.M. Thursday at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena, Kansas. 

Inurnment: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wathena, Kansas 

Memorials: St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Jude Hospice or the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
