Donald Edward Liechti, of Wathena, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at the age of 86.
Don was born on November 10, 1927, in Belmont Kan., to Fred Edward and Helen Marie (Clark) Liechti.
Don was a farmer in Doniphan County for the past 40 years. He loved working with his hands and had a knack for fixing things. He helped start the Doniphan County Workshop, where his handicapped daughter worked for more than 25 years.
Don retired to Forsyth, Mo. in 1999. He enjoyed square dance calling, traveling to Fiddlers Exhibitions and visiting with family and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glenn Liechti; and sister, Eva Mallory.
He married and later divorced Mary Simmons Liechti. From this union he is survived by Linda Liechti of Atchison, Kan.; Kim Campbell (Ted) of St. Joseph; Fred Thomas Liechti (Lois) of St. Joseph; Mary Ann Woodruff (Bob) of Wathena; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
He will then be cremated per his request. Inurnment at a later date.
