Hubert “Hub” Mueting, 84, of Axtell, KS, died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Life Care Center in Seneca, KS.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home in Axtell.
A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Axtell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 24 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Father Albert Houser will officiate.
Kathy Buessing will play the organ while the choir sings “Here I Am Lord”, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “Be Not Afraid”, “On Eagles Wings” and “”Holy God We Praise Thy Name”.
The pallbearers will be Doug Mueting, Justin Mueting, Kyle Mueting, Derek Mueting, Stephen Mueting, Scott Kramer and Brian Kramer.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Hubert “Hub” was born in Centralia, KS, December 7, 1929 to Herman and Nora (Heiman) Mueting. He graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School in 1948. Hubert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict (1951) as a secretary to the Coronel and was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1953. Following the service, he worked for General Motors Aircraft, building the 787 Thunder Jet.
On June 13, 1953 he married Mildred Skoch and moved north of Axtell in 1955 where they farmed dairy, hogs and row-crops. They resided on the farm until 1993. Hubert served as a licensed Adjuster for Blakely Crop/Hail, Cimarron, Stauffer and RCIS Insurance Companies, 1977-2004, and was a licensed seed dealer, Department of Agriculture and dealer for Northrup King Seed, 1956-1998.
Hubert was an associate member of NCIS, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Sabetha Creamery. He served on the Nemaha County Farm Bureau Board and the St. Michael’s School Board. Hubert was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Axtell American Legion Post 214 and of the Seneca Memorial VFW Post 7458.
Hub loved gardening and traveling the world with Mildred. He enjoyed getting together with friends and family, cream in his coffee, and good food and drink to celebrate the day. He looked forward to the five o’clock hour. His favorite times of year were haying and calving seasons.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; three sons, Dale (Sheila) Mueting, Centralia, Duane (Alison) Mueting, Baileyville, and Ray (Amy) Mueting, Axtell; daughter, Sharon (Marvin) Kramer, Marysville; sisters, Ann Hunter, Kansas City, MO, Hermina Huninghake, Edina, MN, Mary Koch, Baileyville, Nora Kay Van Pelt, Gulf Port, MS; brother, Henry Mueting, Chelsea, MI; nine grandsons, three granddaughters and twelve great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Leonard Mueting and Elmer Mueting.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home, Axtell, KS.
