Gerald “Jerry” Lester Sylvester, 73, of Sabetha, Kansas, passed into eternity on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

Jerry was born on May 18, 1950, in Manhattan, Kansas to Lester and Gladys (Stadel) Sylvester. He began his early schooling in Keats, Kansas before transferring to school in Sabetha in 1965. He graduated from Sabetha High School with the class of 1968.

Jerry was a farmer and stockman with supplementary employment at Wenger Manufacturing and J-Six Enterprises. He enjoyed family and being involved during family events was special to him. Jerry was a member of the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Jo (Sylvester) Boyce.

Jerry is survived by his brother, Eldo (Virginia) Sylvester of Sabetha; two nieces, Christie (Brian) Strahm of Sabetha, and Lisa (Matt) Roudybush of Temple, Texas; three great-nieces; seven great-nephews; one great-great niece; and one great-great-nephew.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the mortuary. Following the service, the family would like to invite everyone attending the service to join them for a meal at the NorthRidge Church. Following the meal, inurnment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery.
